The Runway-Ready Hairstyles Featured at NYFW F/W 2024
New York Fashion Week started fashion season with a hefty dose of inspiration — inspiration to be exactly who you are, where you are. Designs championed finding a comfortable balance between glam and everyday outfits that help you move from day to night and back again with ease. When it comes to fashion and your overall look, hair plays a large role.
For this reason, finding products that perform to create and keep the look with a blend of control and freedom is essential. Here, we’re detailing the show-stopping hairstyles seen at NYFW and sharing the key products used to create the look.

There was a little bit of everything featured at the AW 24 Private Policy runway in New York. As stated by the designers, the collection was a mix of “wild wild west meets AI,” which undoubtedly gave a wide range of inclusion when it came to the hair. On the runway, stylist Shingo Shabata brilliantly sculpted some models while refining other’s texture. Similar to the way modern workwear was updated with design innovation - there was a lawlessness and freedom to the hair as well.
“We played with an unrealistic hair parting and making the hair extremely shiny by using massive amounts of hairspray and then juxtaposing a super normal ponytail to balance it out.” Shingo Shabata, lead hairstylist said. “While it was challenging to emulate the look on shorter hair lengths, we managed to get everything done in less than 15 minutes per person,” recalls Shabata, “key products to achieve the look are KEVIN.MURPHY’s ANTI.GRAVITY.SPRAY, SHIMMER.SHINE, SESSION.SPRAY and finally YOUNG.AGAIN OIL,” he added.
Undone Texture
Making headlines all over the world for the undone glam Diotima brought to NYFW with their AW24 show, the hairstyles seen on the runway exhibited an undone texture to accompany the designs. Stylist Joey George drew on Diotima’s vibe to bring a sophisticated yet free-spirited feel to the hair with his self-described “church lady look."
“We focused on a very undone look for the show, I’m calling it the Church Lady look,” explains George. “It's basically a half-circular fold-forward section that I tie off, and then I just fold it up, creating this kind of almost like a beret of hair in the front. It's a little bit lower into the eye, and then the back is just nice and down, giving a nice clean line to the back.”
Diotima’s collection was full of playful texture and an ode to every woman just as she is. The looks were meant as a tribute to how a woman moves throughout the day and the styles that they carry with them throughout. Texture and defining natural patterns with a shine was a standout element of the hair, one which George could not have created without the help of KILLER.CURLS + YOUNG.AGAIN + SHIMMER.SHINE.
“KILLER.CURLS is used pretty much on everybody as well as my favourite serum, YOUNG.AGAIN oil. It's one of my favourite hair serums out there to give the curl a nice uniform shape and saturation, making everything very nice and glossy. Then, I'm following it up with SHIMMER.SHINE, which is the coolest product ever; it has the most reflective shine I've ever seen in hair care,” details George.
Airy Upstyle

We’re here for the ethereal up style this season and if you need any inspiration, the hair created at the AW24 Alejandra Alonso Rojas show in New York is it. With an airy nature to the look and feel of the hair, it achieves what the designer set out for throughout the show — a calming and grounding feel. While her signature dresses turned heads, so did the expert tailoring seen with her outerwear. A mix of fluffy coats and silky skirts — it’s everything we want to wear this fall. And while we might need to wait for fall to try on these designs, the hair is a look we can jump on immediately.
Joey George was the stylist behind this airy textured upstyle — a look which he describes as being inspired by fashion photographer Peter Lindberg. With a finish that looks as though it's captured in time, the style was one that couldn’t have been created without the cocktail of products behind it.
“My favourite products to use for this are the HAIR.RESORT.SPRAY, which we apply very generously to the hair,” said George. “Once the hair is in a nicely textured state, we dry it with a diffuser. We then pull everything back into a knot, which I tie twice,” he adds. “Finally, I finish everything off with BEDROOM.HAIR just to give it a nice little hold, and also for all the little bits to kind of float off the top of the head as the models are walking. That's the final look.”
The Hero Product Backstage:
While every product used was essential to creating the look, YOUNG.AGAIN treatment oil was a must-have at every turn. This is because as models hop from one show to another, fashion week can be harsh on their strands. By incorporating YOUNG.AGAIN, stylists were able to enhance conditioning by up to 13X leaving hair deeply nourished and protected against future damage.
