Origin Story: ROUGH.RIDER

ROUGH.RIDER was inspired by the ‘Teddy Boy’ looks of the late 50’s. Not gender specific despite the name, they were a subculture from London that had very extreme hairstyles for the day. They were considered radical and they were very sharp dressers. The hair was all piled on top of the head and sculpted and moulded into shape, this required a product that gave you volume and hold.

Kevin used wax for moulding the hair and Diatomaceous Earth to give strength and volume. The wax mixed with the Diatomaceous Earth creates a certain stiffness, which makes this product a strong hold. The combination of the two substances are great for creating sculpted looks that require volume and a moulded, fuller finish.

These types of looks need to hold yet Kevin wanted something that was on the moist side, therefore making use of the plant extracts and waxes, but still having the hold and volume in it. Golden Bamboo helps to provide extra strength to the hair and can have a thickening effect.

ROUGH.RIDER can be applied to damp hair or dry hair; warm it up in your hands first by rubbing your palms together before applying the product. If you have curly hair and want volume and separation to your hair, then apply the product when you hair is wet and then air dry. If your hair is fine and you want some extra texture, apply a very tiny amount to dry hair and scrunch it through the ends.
