In partnership with Peter McDonald, KEVIN.MURPHY the brand is born with seven products; ANTI.GRAVITY, MOTION.LOTION, EASY.RIDER, HAIR.RESORT, STICKY.BUSINESS, FRESH.HAIR and ROUGH.RIDER, using naturally derived ingredients & sulphate and paraben free formulas.

Kevin is awarded the ‘Australian Masters Award’ at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards for his outstanding contributions to the profile of Australian Hairdressing worldwide. The first KEVIN.MURPHY campaign is launched showcasing beach hair, performance and cementing the brand image.

Kevin shoots for Vogue in India, where he uses pigment powders on model Catherine McNeil, inspiring the launch of COLOUR.BUG.



SESSION.SALON a groundbreaking education program using the learnings from Kevin’s editorial career is launched to salons and stylists.

2010


HYDRATE-ME.WASH & RINSE are launched as our first WASH & RINSE in the portfolio. Heroing the antioxidant-rich Kakadu Plum, this iconic duo is still our best-selling WASH & RINSE today.

While shooting on a beach in Malaysia, a wave crashes on the set which gives Kevin the idea to mix eyeshadow with hair gel before scrunching the mixture into the model’s hair. This inspired our beloved HAIR.RESORT and cemented Kevin as the go-to creator of ‘beach hair.

We launch our hero treatment oil, YOUNG.AGAIN 

The Heart of KEVIN.MURPHY is established, and the brand collaborates with Culture Is Life, an Aboriginal led Not-For-Profit organisation. We created a special edition book called ‘HAIR by KEVIN.MURPHY’ to raise awareness and funds for the cause.

KEVIN MURPHY LOVES COLOR.ME is rebranded COLOR.ME BY KEVIN.MURPHY and launched globally. As the first colour line for the brand, COLOR.ME BY KEVIN.MURPHY created an artful blend of science combined with naturally derived ingredients in an ammonia-free formula, providing salons with a holistic KEVIN.MURPHY experience.

Our FUTURE.LOVE Show is hosted in Prague and Las Vegas, bringing together thousands of hairdressers from around the world

This year marked Kevin’s 15th year as Hair Director for Melbourne Fashion Week, working with Australian designers such as Scanlan Theodore and Dion Lee.

To commemorate our SESSION.STYLING heritage (and with a nod to our roots in fashion) we have released a Limited Edition design of two of our most coveted styling products - ANTI.GRAVITY.SPRAY and HAIR.RESORT.SPRAY
