What Causes Colour To Fade During Summer
What actually causes your hair colour to fade prematurely during the summer months comes down to: the sun, the sea, sweat & showering.
UV rays from the sun can cause both oxidation and free radical formation. This is due to the way the sun naturally bleaches the hair and your hair’s protective layer being broken down.
Mix this with salt water, which can dehydrate the hair, or chlorine from pools, which also strips your strands and you aren’t left with much protection.
Then, of course, with higher temps comes sweating, the need to shower, and then the excess heat styling that usually accompanies this cycle. And, with all this together, you’re left with a near perfect storm to cause colour fade and hair damage.
