We’ve met them, followed them, and have been enamored by them. There’s always one person or team or people that go above and beyond their career path to make a change. And at KEVIN.MURPHY, we call them our ICONs. Every two years, we choose to celebrate stylists’ excelling in the industry — whether they are improving the environment, people’s lives, or the community around them — with the ICON Award.

The 2024 ICON Award Winner

This year, KEVIN.MURPHY is proud to announce Deanna Everson of Ginger & Maude salons in Portland, Oregon as the 2024 ICON Winner.

Among 10 other finalists, the jury and the KEVIN.MURPHY team chose Deanna Everson and her Ginger & Maude salons for consistently driving meaningful impact through inclusive initiatives and a ‘community first’ mindset with their employees and clients.

''I have a desire to make sure everybody feels genuinely welcomed in my salon,” says Deanna Everson. At the salon, gender-free haircuts and anxiety-reducing appointments are just some of the ways that these purpose-driven salons create positive change. In addition to this, Deanna is leading the charge on the introduction of livable wages for all staff members and continuing education through their Learning Exchange Program to grow the skill set of her staff and make sure haircare services like those for extra curly and coily hair (4A-4C textures) can be met.

Deanna was presented an award on stage at the REFLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE event in Budapest — we can’t wait to see what she does next!

The Choices We Make
