BTS of LFW’s Most Coveted Show: Dilara Findikoglu Spring 26 RTW
The most coveted ticket at London Fashion Week, the Dilara Findikoglu Spring 26 RTW was an expression of freedom, of female strength and of finding yourself again. More than just expertly designed and tailored garments, her runway told a story—one she partnered with renowned British hairstylist Eugene Souleiman to tell.
Drawing on her Turkish heritage but redefining her vision with a goth feel based on her time spent in London from Fashion School onward, Findikoglu blends the unexpected to create the extraordinary. Working with Souleiman—a visionary in the session world, they created a hairstyle that balanced strict Victorian discipline with feral, witchy abandon, finished with a flourish of Turkish ornamentation.
Similar to the way Findikoglu blends her heritage with the experiences of her early adulthood in the London scene, the hair takes on a controlled chaos that blends whimsy and sharp structures. “We’re starting off with a very clean Victorian counterpart,” says Souleiman. “We’ve taken the center parting and sprayed it lightly at the roots with HAIR.RESORT.SPRAY for control and then created small braids that go from the front of the face, pulling to the back of the neck. We set them with a little SESSION.SPRAY and some ANTI.GRAVITY.SPRAY, giving us a very loose Victorian wave when we take it out.”
The right products were essential to carrying out texture within the look. And to add texture to the back (juxtaposing the twists and parts seen at the hairline), Souleiman relied on what he deems “a miracle product” — POWDER.PUFF. This was the perfect product to create “that big, unstructured, static look that contrasts with the clean, structured front. I love the idea of contrasts in the hair.” He adds. “Everywhere you look, there’s something interesting.”
This season, Souleiman notes “is defined by disruption”. Hair is being styled with intention again, it’s being used as more than just the backdrop, and instead — a big part of the entire conversation. One of Souleiman favourite looks from the show was a style that leaned very witchy. “The girls have these very incredible, sexy empire-line gothic dresses mixed with clear latex for a twisted look. So what we’ve done to make it very witchy is taken branches and leaves from trees, stitching them into the hair to add to the storyline. We’re throwing hair into the branches so it moves and flows, giving this very twisted, graphic shape.” Says Souleiman.
“It’s one of those hairstyles that I love because it’s about creating something very graphic, very structural—and then breaking it, going savage and feral in a very beautiful way. The important thing for me is the fact that we’re doing something completely new and off. It’s exciting to look at, and it’s very theatrical. I’m extremely happy with what we’ve done.” He adds.
Key to each one of Souleiman looks were KEVIN.MURPHY styling products. Bringing the hair and therefore the entire ensemble to life, they were able to deliver a remarkable spectacle that is already influencing new movements in both the fashion and beauty worlds.
