So Kevin looked elsewhere. Not in haircare. In skincare.
That shift changed everything.
Skincare had a different way of thinking.

That became the foundation of KEVIN.MURPHY.

We’re a professional brand. Always have been. Everything we make is designed with the stylist’s needs in mind. If it doesn’t perform there, it doesn’t go anywhere.

Before the brand, there was the man. Kevin Murphy trained at Vidal Sassoon in London before returning to Australia, where he built his career across editorial, runway and film, quickly becoming one of the most respected session stylists in the industry.
His work has appeared on the covers of leading global publications, and behind the scenes he has led hair teams for some of the world’s most influential fashion houses. From collaborating with renowned photographers to working on films like Moulin Rouge!, his approach has always been grounded in one thing: hair that performs under pressure.
He became known for an iconic hair look —effortless, undone, beachy, the kind that looks like it just fell into place. It didn’t.
But the brand didn’t start with the accolades.
It started with a problem.
On set, the products weren’t doing what they needed to do. They didn’t move right, didn’t feel right, didn’t last. So instead of settling, Kevin started looking beyond traditional haircare—into skincare, into formulation, into how products could actually change the way hair behaves.
That thinking became KEVIN.MURPHY.
