Walking In Berlin – A Study of Self-Expression

There’s a rich history lining the streets of Berlin. Some of it is apparent within the architecture — the buildings, the walls, the street art. But what’s more impactful about this city is what lies beyond the façade. The real structure of the city is made up of the people moving within it each and every day. The uniforms of the past took away all self-expression, which is why the culture of this city takes every opportunity to exude just that. 

You’ll still see typical fashion roaming the streets, but with a twist. Black suits are paired with expressive trainers and ex-military jackets juxtaposed with stilettos. Unlike other underground communities that have faded or conformed over time, Berlin stands strong with their individuality and ultimately favours understated over ostentatious.

Finding our own fashion within the city — we were drawn to vivacious colours and defined textures that allowed each individual style to speak for itself.

TECHNIQUE: LAMINATE (DIFFUSE, TONG, RAKE)

The Steps:

1. Apply EVER.THICKEN & HEATED.DEFENSE, then diffuse dry.
2. Use a medium tong to define or refine, creating bends to hero hair colour.
3. Rake through with TEXTURE.COMB, laminate with YOUNG.AGAIN DRY CONDITIONER, and rake again to finish.

*PRO TIP: Use a TAIL.COMB to create an ‘air in the hair,’ soft fluffy effect.

2. Diffuse dry with fingers to exaggerate the motion.
3. Use a medium tong to detail the C shapes and apply BEDROOM.HAIR hair to finish.

*PRO TIP: Laminate individual shards of hair with SESSION.SPRAY for a stronger finish.
