HELMSTEDT
Helmstedt’s latest collection delivers a world of fantasy that offers an escape into the world of outer space. What’s above and what’s below collide with fish and aliens coexisting in the same universe, living among constellations and water bubbles. Held at the Geologisk Museum, amidst a backdrop of swirling graphics and bold colours, the pieces held their ground and stood out with effect.
KEVIN.MUPRHY with Hair Direction by Marianne Jensen knew exactly how to enhance the theme to ensure the models looked out of this world. “With the essence of HELMSTEDTs space-inspired collection in mind, we wanted to create the look and feel of a newly born alien emerging from an egg. The hair is to represent the vulnerability and nakedness of the situation, combining the core of the space-themed collection, while keeping each of the models’ natural movement and feel.”

“We have been able to create a beautiful alien-esque persona that embraces the multifaceted, playful expectation of a milky-wayed space inhabitant. Apart from the wet looks we have kept some of the model’s natural hair, playing with braids and cornrows to complement each model’s natural hair,” says Marianne Jensen, Hair Director KEVIN.MURPHY.
HENRIK VIBSKOV
As an artist of many mediums, Henrik Vibskov has always explored out-of-the-box ideas within his fashion designs. A reassuring theme for him is his interest in food and the larger cultural and social implications they have on design. This year, with his FW23 collection he drew his inspiration from La Tomatina (the tomato fights of Valencia, Spain) as he explores the tomato inside and out. Red and green were dominant colours throughout the headbands that looked like a string of cherry tomatoes were a striking element throughout the show.
Having worked with Henrik before, Marianne was instantly inspired with the vision and knew exactly how to complement the soul of his designs. The hair featured both sleek styles with tight silhouettes as well as natural volume and movement. “At KEVIN.MURPHY we love to celebrate the hairs natural volume and movement,” says Marianne Jensen, Hair Director KEVIN.MURPHY, “and in this case, it creates as a perfect balance to the sleekness of the other look we created,” she adds.

REMAIN
Remain by Birger Christensen has always been about crafting pieces that you’ll hold on to. Their AW23 collection blends the past while creating a modern future as is a tribute to their brand, from the craftsmanship to the iconic form of their designs. These core values are exactly where Hair Director Marianne Jensen found inspiration for the hair. Creating a range of looks, they all represent a contrast of bold masculine structure and sleek feminine detailing, in harmony to convey a cool and contemporary sophistication.
To celebrate the individuality of each model, Marianne was inspired to celebrate everyone’s unique hair. “Throughout the different looks, you will find everything from healthy curls with a natural bounce, sleek ponytails to the cool semi-updo with the classic dreadlock.” Says Marianne Jensen, Hair Director KEVIN.MURPHY. “I love that we are celebrating the individual here and that the craftsmanship of the collection also spills over to the looks we are creating for the hair. Sophisticated, elegant, clean, and modern are the perfect key words to represent the vision I had when creating the looks for REMAIN,” she adds.

ROTATE
In contrast to Birger Christensen’s sister company, REMAIN, ROTATE is driven by the latest trends with ready-to-wear options often featuring expressive prints and textured fabrics for a bit of everyday glamour. To amp up the glam even more this season, Lisa Rinna from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stunned on the runway wearing a plunging black bodysuit and a fabulous leopard print coat. What stood out even more than her ensemble was her new ‘do styled into a faux-hawk by the KEVIN.MURPHY team, which accentuated her flawless strut down the runway.
