Story
Ive always been eco conscious. Don’t get me wrong I’m not perfect, but I try every day to make big and small changes to my lifestyle to reduce the impact I have on my environment.
I have two babies, one is my salon and the other is my daughter. Both are my world, but that doesn’t mean they should have a negative impact on our planet.
That’s why our salon proudly use Kevin Murphy (famous for their eco conscious work) and we have recently joined the Green Salon Collective gang. Something we are hugely excited and proud to be part of.
When I had my baby last year I knew I wanted to raise her to be eco aware right from the beginning, so where do you start with a new born? Nappies.
The UK alone throw away over 8 million single use nappies per day, each one taking around 500 years to decompose. That’s when I turned to reusable cloth nappies.
It wasn’t a smooth transition, learning how to fit and wash them correctly (a leaking nappy isn’t fun for anyone) and the negative comments I received from other new Mums and even family members! But I had little eyes watching me and it’s more important now than ever to show the next generation how to care for the world we live in.
Now I’m proud to be raising a cloth bum baby, who’s learning to love and care for her planet, my very own mini eco warrior!
Timing
I began researching how to raise and eco friendly baby when I was pregnant, began transitioning to reusable nappies when she was born, and now I proudly teach other new Mums about the benefits of cloth nappies and will be using cloth nappies until my baby is potty trained, and on any other little Cains that come along!
