Description of Your Story
Hello. It feels funny nominating myself, but here goes: Since 2010, every year I’ve been invited to be a hairdresser and/or makeup artist for one of the most amazing events: Circus Couture. not just myself, but hundreds of people from the local artist community, cirque du soleil performers, parents, children, camera people, Las Vegas community leaders, etc all donate their time, equipment and much more for this one of a kind charity even which benefits cure4thekids.org. An amazing foundation dedication to help catastrophically ill children in the Las Vegas community. I’m very very proud to participate and do hair alongside so many who are happy to give so much. Sometimes it can be very sad because the children all don’t make it to the next show. It’s a long emotional day but the most rewarding thing I can do as a hairdresser and a member of the Las Vegas community.
Timing of Your Story | |
Circus Couture is a yearly event since 2010. This year’s show is slated for September 30. It will be my ninth show in eleven years. A tremendous amount of planning and logistics goes into putting on an event of this type and magnitude. There’s a fashion show with garments created specifically for the day and theme, interspersed with cirque du soliel performers and a silent art auction plus a final art auction. The stories of the families who are suffering with a terminally ill child are absolutely heart-wrenching, but also the courage of all these people is what inspires me to do something, even if it is such a small contribution, to help.
