“As the founder of SCRUFF’S Barbershop, I am honored to share the story of a vision that has grown beyond the boundaries of a traditional barbershop into a vibrant community space in the heart of Austin, Texas. Since 2019, our heartfelt initiative, Community Inclusion, has aimed to align with our shop’s fundamental identity of being more than a place for just haircuts, but a sanctuary celebrating inclusivity, individuality, and the inherent beauty within each person.
The intention behind Community Inclusion was always to transform inclusivity from a mere principle to an initiative placing importance on shaping stories and fostering a sense of belonging for everyone who walks through our doors. This includes offering gender-affirming cuts, a commitment to our belief that everyone deserves to feel seen and respected; our partnership with Out Youth, a charity dedicated to supporting LGBTQ youth; active participation in events such as Out Prom, creating a safe and affirming space for teens to enjoy a memorable LGBTQ prom experience; and contributing to Back-to-School cuts for LGBTQ youth, ensuring they start the school year with confidence and pride. SCRUFF'S is not just a grooming destination; it's a community builder.
