Story
I was nominated for, ran and won Central PA's 2019 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's MWOY campaign. I was awarded the title 2019 Woman of The Year after raising $100,000 for LLS (leukemia and lymphoma) I chose to do this in honor of a dear friend who lost his life to lymphoma in 2016 and for a now 10 year old little girl named Alana who at the time of the campaign was the daughter of an employee and she was battling ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) She is now in her first year of survival. I was able to name a $50,000 grant in each of their names and raise awareness for this awful disease.
Funds raised from Man & Woman of the Year help find cures and ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients.
LLS funds research to advance breakthrough therapies for blood cancer patients.
LLS is the leading source of free blood cancer information, education and patient support.
LLS is the voice for blood cancer patients and survivors today.
I watched my friends, family, co-workers and the entire community come together to support me during this unforgettable 10 weeks. I held various events for fundraising and was able to raise $100,000 and have 2 research grants named. It was challenging, but oh so rewarding.
Thankful, humbled and overjoyed are only a few words to describe the honor of being named Woman of The Year by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Friday night. My team and I raised $100,000 over 10 weeks of hard work and determination. Several times I was ready to give up, several times I asked myself if I set my goal too high. The generosity from so many people that include my family, friends, loved ones, employees, clients, strangers and sponsors like Bob Ruth Ford was overwhelming. The selflessness from some very special people who donated during fund the fight was so powerful and meaningful. The last minute dollars that helped me reach my goal made all the blood, sweat and tears worth it. Thank you to my kick A** team, thank you to everyone who donated all the silent auction items, thank you to my employees for donating your time for our 1st and very successful event, thank you to everyone who kept me going with positivity and for cheering me on. Thank you to Abbie and Donovan and your families for your support. Because of ALL of you I was able to name not 1 but 2 $50,000 research grants in Scott’s memory and in Alana’s honor. This journey has helped me in so many ways and now because of the funds raised will help get us closer to a world without blood cancer. Lives will be saved and families won’t have to suffer. From the bottom of my exploding heart ❤️ THANK YOU!
